In his official declaration, Monsignor Nicodème A. Barrigah-Bénissan, Archbishop of Lomé wrote :

Having been tested for a long time by sickness, our brother, the Reverend Father Etienne AMOUZOU, left us for the Kingdom of the Heavenly Father on this day of 05 January 2021 (Tuesday after the Epiphany).
He was born on the 26th of December 1961 and ordained priest for the service of the people of God on the 8th of August 1987. He was our brother and friend who put his confidence in God. He was devoted to ministry in our Family-Church of God in Lomé during more than 33 years of priestly ministry.
With a pain in my heart, I entrust him to your fervent prayers, so that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of this world, will receive him with kindness, and that he will find with the Lord peace and joy promised to the faithful servant. On this sad occasion, in the name of the whole diocesan family of Lomé, I present my sincere condolences to the AMOUZOU family sorrowfully tested.
The details of the funeral programme will be communicated later to you all.All parishes of the Archdiocese of Lomé are asked to choose a date for the celebration of a mass for the repose of the soul of Father Etienne AMOUZOU. Lord, give him eternal rest and let eternal light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen!
