Estructura de la FEBIC

 

La Federación nació el 16 de abril de 1969 para poner en práctica la Constitución del Concilio Vaticano II sobre la Divina Revelación "Dei Verbum" (DV), y esto por iniciativa de los Cardenales Augustin Bea y Johannes Willebrands y el Rev. P. Walter M. Abbott, S.J. con el estímulo del Papa Pablo VI. Fue establecida por la Santa Sede como una asociación pública internacional de fieles a través del Consejo Pontificio para la Promoción de la Unidad de los Cristianos. Como tal, es ipso iure una persona jurídica en la Iglesia (cf. cc. 313 CIC y 573 CCEO) y se rige por los cánones de los Códigos de Derecho Canónico sobre las asociaciones públicas (cf. cc. 298-320 CIC y 573-583 CCEO) y por los correspondientes cánones de los Códigos relativos a los bienes de la Iglesia (cf. cc. 1254-1310 CIC y 1007-1054 CCEO), así como por sus propios estatutos.

La Federación se relaciona con la Santa Sede a través del Pontificio Consejo para la Promoción de la Unidad de los Cristianos, que constituye la autoridad eclesiástica competente (cf. cc. 312 §1 CIC y 575 §1,3 CCEO) de la Federación. El representante del Consejo Pontificio para la Promoción de la Unidad de los Cristianos tiene derecho a participar e intervenir en las reuniones y otros eventos de la Federación sin derecho a voto.

La Federación es una organización sin fines de lucro, constituida en Alemania. La sede social de la Federación y su estructura organizativa, la Secretaría General, están situados en Sankt Ottilien, Baviera, Alemania.

 

Plenary Assembly

The governing body of the Federation is the Plenary Assembly. It is a delegates’ conference of full members and associate members held regularly every six years. The Plenary Assembly sets the guidelines for the work of the Federation for the following six years. It also elects the members of the Executive Committee. The Plenary Assembly offers CBF members the opportunity to meet on a worldwide scale. It is the place for exchange and reflection beyond regional and continental borders.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is elected by the Plenary Assembly. It is the highest organ in the period between Plenary Assemblies and it is obligated to implement their decisions and to nominate office-holders. Each region is served by at least one representative in the Executive Committee.

President

The President is the presiding officer of the Federation. He is a prelate, elected by the Executive Committee, his name being presented to the Holy See for confirmation. His term of office is six years renewable.

Administrative Board

The Administrative Board of the Catholic Biblical Federation is, in accordance with German law, the legal entity of the Federation as a registered organi- zation in Germany, and as such bears the responsibi- lity for all legal and financial matters of the Federation in accordance with the current law of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Secretario General

El Secretario General es elegido por el Comité Ejecutivo y es responsable de la implementación y realización de los objetivos y tareas de la Federación. Con el apoyo de un equipo internacional en el Secretariado General y en colaboración con los coordinadores de las distintas regiones, promueve
y coordina el trabajo de la Federación.

Regional Coordinators

Based on the principle of subsidiarity the Catholic Biblical Federation is divided into seven regions: Africa, Latin America, North America, Asia, Oceania, Europe and Middle East. Some of these regions are further subdivided into subregions.

The regional and subregional coordinators have the task of promoting biblical pastoral ministry in their own regions and of coordinating it with the support of the General Secretariat. All the coordinators work on a voluntary basis.
