Visit of the CBF Secretary General in DR Congo
Responding to the invitation to participate in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the foundation of Verbum Bible, the General Secretary of the Catholic Biblical Federation held a working visit in the DR Congo.
Verbum Bible, created in 1982 by the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) to serve the Church in Africa and Madagascar, is a very important institution on the biblical scene on the African continent and an associate member of the Catholic Biblical Federation.
The trip of the CBF Secretary General to Kinshasa was also an occasion for contacts with the leaders of the Catholic Church in the DR Congo: His Eminence Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, his auxiliary bishops, the Secretary General of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo and his assistant secretaries... and many religious priests and lay people engaged in the biblical ministry in the DR Congo.
With His Eminence Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu and the authorities of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo, several topics related to the biblical animation of pastoral ministry and the biblical formation of candidates for the ministerial priesthood were discussed.
During the symposium organised on the occasion of the anniversary of Verbum Bible, under the title "Défis et Enjeux de la traduction de la Bible en langues africaines", Father Stefanów also met several biblical scholars members of the Biblical Association of the DR Congo and its President, Fr. Leopold Ditona SVD, responsible for the Biblical Pastoral Ministry of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo.
