Notker Wolf, OSB (1940-2024) RiP
The news of the untimely death of Abbot Primate emeritus Notker Wolf OSB on April 2, 2024 moved us of the Catholic Biblical Federation deeply, both in sorrow and in gratitude.
In addition to his multiple responsibilities within the Benedictine order (Archabbot in Sankt Ottilien between 1977 and 2000, and Abbot Primate from 2000 to 2016), he also exercised the mandate of Chairman of the Administrative Board of the CBF from January 2009 through March 2012.
We shall treasure the memories of his generosity and hospitality, his simplicity and clairvoyance which he so often revealed in his commitment to sharing the compassion of Jesus with men and women around the world. The Catholic Biblical Federation was privileged to have known Abbot Notker as a common wayfarer in the mission of sharing God’s Word with all human beings in a world characterized by its fragility.
We express our heartfelt condolences to his Benedictine family and to all who found in him a signpost of Christian humanity. We pray that he may find eternal rest in the merciful hands of our loving God and Father.
