All India Biblical Consultation cum Seminar

The All India Biblical Consultation cum Seminar was organized by the Commission for Bible of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) at St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa with the theme, “Word of God, Source of life in the Family.” 


In all 128 participants consisting of bishops, priests, sisters and lay men and women from all over India were present at the event.  

Apart from Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao of Goa and Daman, Bishops J Susaimanickam, Gali Bali, Theodore Mascarenhas, sfx and Thomas Dabre graced the occasion.  

In his presidential address Bishop Susaimanickam, Chairperson of the CCBI Commission for Bible, emphasized on the importance of making the Word of God central in families. Archbishop Ferrao, in his keynote address, focused on the Word of God as the power, light, nourishment and giver of fresh life to families.  

Subject experts included Most Rev Dr Thomas Dabre, V Rev Dr Canon Mario Saturnino Dias, Rev Dr Ayres Fernandes, Rev Dr Soccoro Mendes, Rev Fr Alfred J Vaz, and Dr Roshan Nazareth. Fr Jan J Stefanow, Secretary General of the Catholic Biblical Federation, was present. 

Three couples were invited to share their family experiences – Armando and Maria from the Marriage Encounter group, Mollet and Annelise De Sa from the Catholic Family Movement and Francis and Anna Fernandes from the Couples for Christ.  

On the first day of the consultation cum seminar, participants celebrated Mass at the Bom Jesus Basilica in Old Goa.
