In preparation for the Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Biblical Federation in November 2021, we invite all members and friends of our Federation to pray for God’s blessing, the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and the intercession of Mary, the Mother of the Word, for all its regions and their activities.

Presentation of the Region
The North American region includes Canada and the United States. The Catholic Biblical Federation is not well known in the Region and has been mostly inactive in recent years. While the region is blessed with substantial resources for biblical pastoral ministry, funding for these efforts and outreach remains difficult. Most dioceses do not have a biblical department, and neither do the US and the Canadian episcopal conferences.
An additional challenge is a diminishing attendance at weekly Masses, with an increasing number of people self-identifying themselves as spiritual, but not religious. In this environment, it is challenging for biblical pastoral agencies to reach Catholics and others in an effective way. A noteworthy recent initiative in the region is the creation of “Friends of the Catholic Biblical Federation” association, to promote biblical pastoral ministry and raise funds the Federation’s mission.

Friends' of the Catholic Biblical Federation inaugural event
On Sunday, 18 March 2018, the Friends of the Catholic Biblical Federation held its inaugural event at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Rowland Heights, California.
USCCB announces national bible week to promote biblical ministry in the US
From November 15–21, 2015, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops invites families, parishes, schools, and other Catholic groups to participate in a National Bible Week in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Second Vatican Council Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, Dei Verbum.
Friends of the Catholic Biblical Federation
Friends of the CBF is a not for profit and a voluntary organization (501 c 3) serving the Catholic Biblical federation - Catholic institution created in 1969 to carry out the recommendations of the II Vatican Council concerning the Bible. The Federation’s aim is to be of service to the Bishops in the fulfillment of their responsibility to proclaim the Word of God to all the faithful.
One of the elements of our mission is to help the catholic institutions affiliated to the CBF to promote and support the translation, production and distribution of the Bible at Catholic and interconfessional levels.
