On Wednesday November 4, 2015 the General Secretary of the Catholic Biblical Federation, Jan P. J. Stefanów SVD, was received at the Archbishop's Offices in Munich by Cardinal Reinhard Marx, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising and President of the German Bishops’ Conference.

The meeting was organized by Dr. Bernhard Hasslberger, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising and Chairman of the Administrative Board of the Catholic Biblical Federation.

The main purpose of the meeting, which for logistical reasons could not take place previously, was to thank Cardinal Marx for the continued economic support of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising to the Catholic Biblical Federation and for having facilitated the appointment of Bishop Hasslberger as Chairman of the Administrative Board.

Bishop Hasslberger presented a brief summary of the most important issues of his term as Chairman of the Administrative Board for the past three years and introduced the Father Stefanów as the new General Secretary of the Catholic Biblical Federation, who in turn briefed Cardinal Marx on the structure and activities of the Federation, with special emphasis on the last Plenary Assembly in Nemi, and presented to him copies of its 2014 Annual Report and the recently promulgated Constitution of the Catholic Biblical Federation.

The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the challenges of Biblical Animation of all Pastoral Life in Germany and in Europe, with reference to the other ecclesial regions where the CBF is present.

Cardinal Marx thanked Fr. Stefanów and Bishop Hasslberger for the information received and for the work that the CBF is doing for the good of the Church, and pledged his personal support and that of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising and of the German Bishops Conference for the activities and projects of the Catholic Biblical Federation and conveyed his greetings to all members, friends and benefactors of the Federation.
